Gender-affirming care bill sent to conference committee

The Kansas Senate on Thursday suddenly decided to send legislation that bans gender-affirming care for Kansas children to a conference committee.

The bill appeared to be poised to go to the governor on Thursday after senators briefly talked over the legislation during their morning caucus.

However, the bill stalled so it could be adjusted to address narrow concerns raised by a couple of senators.
