Longbine leaving Senate after 14 years; former school superintendent to run for seat


After 14 years, Republican Jeff Longbine's run in the state Senate is coming to an end.

Longbine said Monday morning that he does not plan to run for a fourth full term in the Senate, bringing an end to a legislative career that started in 2010.

"I never really thought I would be there 14 years," Longbine said.

"Fourteen years sounds a like a good time. Eighteen years sounds like forever," he said

"I've had a great run. I think I've done a good job. I've never wanted to get to the position of people thinking . . .
