Kansas Senate approves $25 billion budget

The Kansas Senate on Thursday approved a $25.1 billion budget for the upcoming fiscal year that allocates more money to fight the fentanyl crisis, builds a new cancer research center as well as funds passenger rail service and airports.

The budget, approved by the Senate on a 24-15 vote, is slightly smaller than the $25.3 billion budget for fiscal year 2024. It includes $174.4 million for a 5% pay raise for state employees . . .
