State ethics officials have lodged a complaint against a social welfare group that engaged in Overland Park municipal elections this year.
They have filed complaints against two participants in the group Fresh Vision OP - president James Muir and treasurer Chengny Thao of Overland Park - for allegedly failing to register as a political action committee.
Violation of the law is a misdemeanor that carries a fine of up to $5,000 on a first offense. A hearing is set for January.
