Democratic congressional candidate Paul Davis raised about $1.3 million in the last quarter, far outdistancing Republican rival Steve Watkins in the 2nd District race.

The latest finance reports show Davis raised almost five times as much as Watkins, whose campaign has received millions of dollars in outside help from a super political action committee tied to House Speaker Paul Ryan.

Watkins, who has faced a number of questions about whether he’s been truthful about his background, reported raising about $282,000 in the quarter ending Sept. 30.

Watkins reported having $151,000 in the bank when the reporting period closed. Davis had $1.2 million on hand going into the last full month of the campaign.

On Tuesday, Watkins faced more questions when McClatchy reported that he “liked” anti-police postings on Facebook in 2012, 2013 and 2014, long before he ran for Congress.
