Cities asks for regulation of electric scooters

Kansas cities want the state to give them the ability to regulate electric scooters, the trendy new fad in transportation.

Led by the League of Kansas Municipalities, several cities across the state are asking lawmakers to give them the power to govern the scooters, which can reach speeds as high as 35 mph.

Wichita, Overland Park and Manhattan were among those that testified on behalf of legislation that would prohibit scooters from operating on city streets unless approved by the municipality.
