BREAKING: Olathe lawmaker to leave post

Democratic state Rep. Brad Boyd of Olathe said Monday that he plans to step down from his seat representing House District 49.

In an interview with the Sunflower State Journal, Boyd said the work in Topeka became too demanding on his family and his service on the Olathe school board.

"It really was a combination of things," Boyd said.

"The school board is really my first true love," he said. "And last session, if I'm being totally candid, was kind of rough on my family and rough on me."

Boyd said traveling back and forth to Topeka every day . . .
