Republican congressional candidate Amanda Adkins distanced herself from supporting a federal parents bill of rights that's part of an agenda rolled out last week for the GOP if it retakes control of the House.
The plan unveiled last week by House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy - called the Commitment to America - includes a measure for advancing a federal parents bill of rights.
While Adkins praised merits of the idea, she said education is a local issue.
