The Legislature has approved a plan to help solve a shortage of attorneys in rural Kansas with a bill offering incentives to encourage law students to practice in sparsely-populated regions.
The House voted 119-3 Tuesday to approve the rural justice initiative that would provide a $3,000 stipend each year for three years for law students who agree to practice in rural Kansas.
The bill also creates a loan repayment program up to $20,000 . . .
