Veteran Kansas political strategist Tom Witt, who long battled for the LGBTQ community in the Kansas Legislature, plans to seek the Senate seat that came open with Democrat Mary Ware's decision to resign last week.
Witt, 64, had worked as a statehouse lobbyist from 2005 to 2022 when he retired to spend time with family. Over the years, he also has been involved in a number of Wichita-centered campaigns, working for a variety of Democratic lawmakers.
