Watson remark referenced Indians ‘raiding the town’


Kansas Education Commissioner Randy Watson related how he told his cousins from California how they should worry more about Indians "raiding the town" than Kansas tornadoes at a virtual education conference this month.

"I have cousins from California. They were petrified of tornados," Watson said in a video made public under the state open records law.

"They'd come visit us, you know, in the summer. They're like, 'Are we going to get killed by a tornado?' I'd say, 'Don't worry about that, but you've got to worry about the Indians raiding the town at any . . .
