A legislative panel on Tuesday recommended a historical special legislative session to fight back against a federal vaccine mandate that is now under legal assault.

The panel recommended that the Legislature peitition the governor to call a special session for Nov. 22, the start of Thanksgiving week.

It would require support from two-thirds of the Kansas Legislature, or 84 members of the House and 27 members of the Senate.

It is believed this could be the first time the Legislature successfully petitions a Kansas governor . . .
