The Republican primary race between Sen. Dan Goddard and former state Rep. Virgil Peck has narrowed to 27 votes after Neosho County counted its provisional ballots late Thursday.
Goddard gained 98 votes in Neosho while Peck gained 53 votes. Goddard's net gain of 45 votes has narrowed Peck's lead, which had been at 72.
The race will likely not be decided until Monday at the earliest when Labette County election officials will count their 91 provisional ballots and Montgomery County will tabulate its 93 provisionals.
