Senate committee approves nominees

A Senate committee on Monday approved six nominees to various state boards and committees. The nominees will be sent on to the full Senate for confirmation next year. The nominees approved by the committee Monday were:

Former state Sen. Pete Brungardt to the Kansas Lottery Commission. Brungardt served in the Kansas Senate from 2001 to 2013. He was among a group of moderate Republicans who were swept out of office in the 2012 primary election. An optometrist, Brungardt, served on the Salina City Commission from 1993 to 1999. He is now chair of the Salina Economic Development Organization . . .
