The Kansas Senate on Thursday approved legislation that would allocate $1.5 million a year to luring amateur sporting events to Kansas.
The bill, passed on a 28-12 vote, is intended to put Kansas on a competitive level with other states that are offering similar incentives to draw soccer, volleyball, softball and basketball tournaments, among others.
