The Senate on Thursday approved a bill giving Attorney General Kris Kobach oversight over class-action lawsuits brought by local governments.
The Senate voted 23-17 to approve a bill similar to one that former Attorney General Derek Schmidt backed in 2020 that would have limited local governments from bringing lawsuits based on contingency-fee arrangements.
The bill will have to return to the House, which can either concur with Senate . . .
