Seiwert removed from utilities committee


House Speaker Ron Ryckman Jr. on Friday removed state Rep. Joe Seiwert as chair of the utilities committee.

Seiwert of Pretty Prairie was not among the chairs of legislative committees announced Friday for the upcoming session.

He will be replaced by state Rep. Blaine Finch, the House speaker pro tem. It's rare for a House member in leadership to chair a legislative committee.

In an interview, Seiwert said he was pulled from the committee after joining an effort to get state regulators to more aggressively respond to ongoing investigations into how ratepayers natural . . .
