Insurance Commissioner Vicki Schmidt has picked up support in her bid for governor from a national political women's group that seeks to elect conservative women to office.
Maggie's List has endorsed Schmidt over three other Republican women running for governor - Joy Eakins, Charlotte O'Hara and Stacy Rogers.
The group backs candidates who promote "principles of fiscal responsibility, limited government, and strong national security."
The group noted that Schmidt won the most votes when she was first elected insurance commissioner in 2018 and when she was reelected in 2022.
