Ryckman reelection raises prospect of third term as speaker

House Speaker Ron Ryckman Jr. filed for reelection Thursday, raising the prospect of an unprecedented third term as the chamber's top leader.

Ryckman posted his filing on Twitter at 3:22 p.m. along with House Majority Leader Dan Hawkins and Speaker Pro Tem Blaine Finch. The trio filed together.

Ryckman's filing immediately set off more speculation on social media that he was running for a third term as speaker, something never done before in Kansas.

The Olathe lawmaker wouldn't rule out running for speaker. But if Ryckman didn't run, he would have to return to . . .
