Republican precinct leaders have picked the wife of a former state senator to replace the late Les Mason of McPherson in House District 73.
They elected Lori Shultz, the wife of former state Sen. Clark Shultz, who is now executive director of the Health Care Stabilization Fund.
Lori Shultz of Lindsborg will serve out Mason's term, which ends after this year.
But she was elected in time to serve in Tuesday's special legislative session, where she will get to vote on tax incentives for the Chiefs and Royals as well as tax cuts.
