(Updated: Clarifies that McDonald didn't manage Boyd's campaign).

Democratic precinct leaders on Monday night narrowly picked an Olathe political consultant to replace local school board member Brad Boyd in the Kansas House.

McDonald will serve out Boyd's term representing House District 49. She plans to run for a full two-year term later next year.
