Override or bust: Tax bill in limbo as lawmakers prepare to overturn veto

It looks like it's going to be all or nothing on taxes.

The top Republican leaders in the House and Senate said Tuesday that there is no fall-back plan if the Legislature can't override the governor's veto of legislation that would move the state to a single tax bracket.

With the session in its last days, GOP leaders believe there's little time to craft a new plan to replace one that Gov. Laura Kelly vetoed because she believed it would upend the state's tax structure and return Kansas to the era of Gov. Sam . . .
