A vast majority of the foreign-held land in Kansas is made up of wind leases, a Kansas State University researcher told lawmakers Wednesday.
Robin Reid, an extension farm economist, told a panel of lawmakers that just 2.4% of private agriculture land in Kansas - or about 1.2 million acres - is held by foreign interests.
Of that 1.2 million acres, about 94% was held by wind energy companies, leaving just about 68,000 acres in private agriculture land remaining in foreign-held hands.
