Medicaid expansion supporters pour money into efforts

Supporters of Medicaid expansion spent about $51,000 in April campaigning to get the Legislature to approve health care coverage for up to 150,000 Kansans.

Alliance for a Healthy Kansas spent $51,748 on newspaper and radio ads in an effort to break loose a bill that would have expanded Medicaid this legislative session.

The amount reflected the entire amount that the group spent for the session through April.

The money was spent leading up to the veto session, when the Senate took up Minority Leader Anthony Hensley's motion to force a vote on Medicaid expansion.
