Masterson moves to force Senate to consider judicial confirmation at sine die

Just before the Senate adjourned early Sunday morning, Republican state Sen. Ty Masterson moved to force the chamber to consider judicial confirmation at sine die.

Shortly before 3 a.m., Masterson motioned for the Senate to pull a proposed constitutional amendment out of committee that would give the governor the ability to appoint judges to the Supreme Court with Senate confirmation.

Masterson's motion came a week after the state Supreme Court found that the state Constitution protected a woman's right to an abortion.

The motion will be considered at sine die on May 29. It will take 24 . . .
