Legislative audit focuses on spending in one or two school districts

A legislative committee on Tuesday ordered a limited scope audit of possibly two school districts to determine whether they're spending complies with state law.

The Legislative Post-Audit Committee agreed to a request from Republican state Rep. Samantha Poetter Parshall of Paola for an audit examining whether school districts comply with state law for how they spend their state and local funding.

Auditors originally suggested that the full audit would mean they would have to audit a sample of 15 school districts, but that was narrowed to two district as lawmakers mapped out their auditing schedule.
