Republican state Rep. Samantha Poetter Parshall has filed to run for the Paola school board.
As of Thursday morning, Poetter Parshall was the only candidate to file for the Position 5 seat on the board.
She said she plans to continue representing House District 6, which covers Miami County and includes Bucyrus, Hillsdale, Louisburg, Paola and parts of Osawatomie and Spring Hill.
Elected to the House in 2020, Poetter Parshall will be up for reelection next year. It is not unprecedented for state lawmakers to hold local office as well.
