Law banning transgender medical treatment for children challenged in state court

A pair of transgender adolescents and their parents are challenging a new state law banning surgery and the use of puberty blockers for treating transgender children in Kansas.

The lawsuit, filed in Douglas County District Court, contends that the law approved over the veto of Gov. Laura Kelly violates the Kansas Constitution’s guarantees of equal protection and fundamental rights.
