Democratic state Rep. Mike Amyx of Lawrence is running for assistant House minority leader against incumbent Valdenia Winn of Kansas City.
Amyx sent out an email to Democrats on Wednesday afternoon announcing his plans to run for the leadership position. The election is Monday.
Also on Wednesday night, Democratic Rep. Melissa Oropeza of Kansas City announced she would be running for agenda chair against Rep. Jerry Stogsdill of Prairie Village.
Amyx addressed his caucus earlier in the day Friday.
