Gov. Laura Kelly revealed her budget for the upcoming fiscal year, asking lawmakers to put money into preserving the state's shrinking water supply, covering the cost of school lunches for less affluent children, adding child care slots and raising state employee pay.
Kelly on Thursday offered a budget of $10.65 billion in state general fund spending for fiscal year 2026, an increase of about 0.7%, or $70.3 million, from the $10.58 billion approved for the current fiscal year that ends this June 30.
