Gov. Laura Kelly is moving forward with the appointment of a new judge to fill an opening on the Kansas Court of Appeals despite a dispute over whether she can still the make the nomination.
The governor's office announced late Friday that a nominating committee had selected former Johnson County prosecutor Steve Obermeier as a finalist for the position.
