Amid all the statehouse talk about sports betting last session, another type of gambling emerged for lawmakers to consider.
As sports betting was unsuccessfully hashed out behind-the-scenes, executives at the Kansas Lottery pitched the idea of going online — a move that would require legislative approval.
If lawmakers approved an app for sports wagering, lottery officials thought the timing would be ripe for internet games since that also requires the Legislature's blessing.
