Leading Kansas senators on Monday promised to pursue legislation that would exempt tips from income taxes, following up on a promise made by President Donald Trump.
Senate President Ty Masterson led a group of lawmakers joined by U.S. Sen. Roger Marshall of Kansas to announce their intent to cut taxes on tips.
A bill has not been introduced and Masterson, a potential candidate for governor, told reporters that lawmakers were just announcing an intention to get the legislation passed.
"We love that idea from the federal government," Masterson said.
