Kansas set a new record for abortions in 2024, climbing almost 2% from a year earlier but lower than what had been projected nationally.
The state's new vital statistics report - made public Wednesday morning - shows that there were 19,811 abortions reported in Kansas during 2024, the most recent year available.
The state set a record for abortions in 2023 when it reported 19,467, the most since 1973 when there were 12,612.
