A Johnson County judge on Tuesday dismissed Senate Majority Leader Jim Denning's defamation claim against The Kansas City Star.
Judge Paul Gurney struck down Denning's claim, saying there wasn't evidence of malice when it published Steve Rose's Jan. 26 column criticizing Denning's views on Medicaid expansion.
Denning sued the newspaper over Rose’s column that suggested the senator was outright opposed to the Medicaid program and blamed less affluent patients for abusing . . .
