The cost of bringing back passenger rail service connecting Wichita and Newton to Oklahoma City will cost nearly $600 million, a new estimate released Wednesday shows.
Transportation planners revealed new numbers showing that it would require about $573.3 million in rail improvement to accommodate the proposed Heartland Flyer extension, which would bring passenger rail service north into Kansas from Oklahoma City.
