Health care legal protections expire Thursday after deal not reached

Civil liability protections for Kansas health care providers for damages stemming from the pandemic were set to expire Wednesday night as senators and House members were unable to reach a deal extending the protections.

Negotiators from the House and Senate struggled all day Wednesday to agree on a proposal that would extend the protections for health care providers from March 31 until Jan. 20, 2023.
