Clay Britton is leaving his post as general counsel for Gov. Laura Kelly to take a position with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas.
Britton will be replaced by Justin Whitten, general counsel at the state Labor Department and a former attorney for the U.S. Department of Labor.
As the governor's general counsel, Britton helped guide the governor through the legal obstacle course presented by the COVID-19 pandemic and her legal battles with the Legislature.
