Gov. Laura Kelly on Monday signed the state's $18 billion budget for fiscal year 2020, but vetoed a $50 million payment into the state retirement system with the goal of increasing the state's reserve funds.
Kelly signed the $18.4 billion budget for fiscal 2020, but vetoed the $51 million retirement system payment plus $1.9 million in supplemental funding for community mental health centers, $1.2 million for evidenced- or research-based reading programs and $261,000 for the Teach for America program.
