Governor signs bill increasing pay for statewide officials, judiciary

Gov. Laura Kelly on Friday signed a bill providing pay raises for the governor and four other statewide elected officials as well as the judiciary.

The bill ties the salary of the governor and four statewide elected officials - treasurer, insurance commissioner, attorney general and secretary of state - to members of Congress.

The bill also increases judicial pay, which would be tied to the salaries of federal district court judges, albeit at only a percentage of those salaries.
