Gov. Laura Kelly on Friday signed a bill that's intended to better protect children from being sexually exploited in the era of artificial intelligence.
The bill criminalizes the possession, creation and distribution of child sexual abuse material generated by artificial intelligence. The Legislature passed the bill unanimously.
The new law clarifies the crime of sexual exploitation of a child to include using computer software or digital manipulation to create an image or video depicting a child shown or heard engaging in sexually explicit conduct.
