A Legislature eager to cut taxes probably has little interest in raising the state's gas tax to pay for a new multiyear transportation program, leading lawmakers said.
The House tax committee this week started examining two bills that would have raised the state's 24-cent gas tax, one by 3 cents over three years and another by 6 cents.
