The general election campaign for the Kansas governor's race gets into full swing next week with the first debate in Johnson County.

Democratic state Sen. Laura Kelly, Republican Secretary of State Kris Kobach and independent candidate Greg Orman are set go head to head on Sept. 5 in an event sponsored by the Johnson County Bar Association.

A second forum for the gubernatorial candidates will be held by the Kansas Chamber of Commerce in Wichita at the Marriott on Sept. 18.
