Kansas political action committees have stashed away nearly $4 million as they ready themselves for a frenzied campaign season later this year.
An analysis of spending reports filed by 172 PACs shows they raised about $3 million and spent about $1.8 million last year.
At the end of 2017, the state’s registered PACs had about $3.9 million in the bank.
The money Kansas PACs have to spend will likely grow with a hotly contested governor’s race on the ballot and every statewide elected office up for grabs.
