A federal judge has rejected a lawsuit contending that the at-large method of elections used in Dodge City dilutes the voting strength of Latino residents.
U.S. District Judge Eric Melgren found in favor of Dodge City in a lawsuit brought on behalf of two Latino residents challenging the at-large election system as a violation of the Voting Rights Act of 1965.
City commissioners are elected citywide on an at-large basis instead of single districts.
