Facing a veto, school choice legislation facing a climb this session

When addressing the Legislature during her annual State of the State speech last week, Gov. Laura Kelly promised to veto any legislation redirecting tax dollars from public education to private schooling.

Whether Kelly even gets a school choice bill to veto this year is in doubt given last year's failures to pass a bill and legislative leaders' reluctance to press an issue this year that could pose political risks at election time.
