Leading lawmakers on Monday approved an estimated $900,000 increase in the amount of money legislators spend on sending newsletters to their constituents.

The Legislative Coordinating Council approved the proposal that would more than double the money spent on printing and postage for newsletters during a calendar year.

The proposal would increase the amount of printing and postage combined to $6,000 for House members and $18,000 for Senators.

The increase would start July 1, 2024, the beginning of fiscal year 2025.

Lawmakers would not benefit from the new combined printing and postage allocation until January 2025.
