Democratic Party at center of ethics commission complaint

The Kansas Democratic Party is at the heart of state ethics complaints lodged against two former treasurers that focus on alleged campaign finance violations related to tracking and reporting campaign donations and expenses.

The ethics commission has filed 48 counts of alleged violations against former volunteer treasurer Matt Watkins and another eight against former volunteer treasurer Tobias Schlingensiepen, who is now running for a seat in the Kansas House.

The complaints cover 2011 to 2016.

The state complaints come on the heels of the Federal Election Commission . . .
