The Kansas Commerce Department has eliminated three positions that administered millions of dollars in federal COVID relief funds after bringing in an outside firm to restructure those functions.
A spokesperson for Commerce said three program specialist positions were dissolved when the agency brought in the risk management firm Witt O’Brien’s, which is reviewing the awarding of the American Rescue Plan grants.
The review by Witt O’Brien’s - a firm that specializes in crisis management - includes day-to-day administration and compliance support for grant recipients.
