In her annual state-of-the-judiciary address to the Legislature, Chief Justice Marla Luckert asked lawmakers for a cost-of-living increase to keep pay for judicial branch employees competitive and fight off the cost of inflation.

"While we have started to address uncompetitive judicial pay, I ask you to please continue that effort," Luckert told a joint session of the Legislature on Wednesday.

"Market forces and inflation are already eroding your effort to bring employee salaries to market rate," Luckert said.
